Hooky Jug - Salisbury Road - Small
A handled ceramics spirits jug or vase - approx 15-16cm tall. The jug / vase typically holds between 500-550mls.
Made from speckled buff clays and based on the 18th-19th century spirits and vinegar jars used to transport and store liquids. Rather than the traditional simple round rim, a pouring lip has been added to this jug.
The straw-coloured Salisbury Road glaze was selected so that they complemented flowers when used as a vase, rather than clashing with or overpowering any floral arrangement. Also notice the earthly lines, where the glaze breaks over the edges around the rim and handle.
