Variations and Differences

Our pottery is handcrafted and our glazes are made specifically for our studio practices and designs. This means that not every piece will look just like the picture you see on the screen. Items can vary slightly in size.

Glaze applications and unique firings, mean that sometimes the glazes have different drips or variations of shading.

Please choose carefully or email to ask questions.

Recycled Packaging Materials

In line with with our Recycle & Reuse policy, wherever possible we will use pre-used materials for packaging. We have long-standing arrangements a number of local retailers and businesses to collect and reuse much of the packaging they receive. Historically this would have simply been binned and and put out as rubbish.

The cardboard, paper, foam and plastic materials that you find your new purchase from us wrapped in, is all recycled and hopefully you, in turn can use this in a similar vein in the future. The aim should always be to keep as much useable material out of our landfills, as possible.

Damaged Items, Returns and Refunds

Returns

As a small local business we can’t offer refunds or exchanges for a change-of-mind.

Every effort is made to ensure pictures on our site are as accurate as possible to the actual item. Therefore, please select carefully when purchasing as we don’t wish to offend you by declining a refund request because of a change-of-mind.

Goods Damaged in Transit

We do take great care when packing items to ensure they arrive safely. However things can go wrong. So, if your item arrives damaged, please take photos of both the packaging and the damaged items items and email us, via the contact page, within 48 hours. This timely information will allow us to submit a damaged goods claim to NZ Post.

We will endeavor to rectify the damaged items or best solution in a timely manner.

Please also note that any refunds will be for the damaged items only. The refund will not include the original shipping charge.

Production and Turnround time on orders

Being a ceramics studio, where all our products are hand made, there will be times when we simply do not have stock-on-hand to be able to dispatch your order immediately.

Typically, the production cycle of an item from raw clay through to one that is glazed and ready to dispatch is roughly 2 weeks. For this reason we are very up-front in stating that an average turnround timeframe of 14 days applies to orders.

Obviously, if we have the stock on the shelf, we will pick and ship it as soon as possible - typically with 2-3 days.

Where we do determine that this time may be exceeded, we will contact you in advance to let you know of any additional delays.

Our objective is to get ahead in our production schedules so that we have a base bisqued items already on the shelves - then its a matter of glazing, firing and dispatch. Unfortunately we aren’t in this position yet so we ask your patience, in the short term.

If there is something really special that you need in a short timeframe, feel free to contact us and we will let you know if we can meet this deadline or not.

The above does apply to all items displayed on our Shop pages.

Dishwashers and Microwaves

We high-fire our stoneware clay with lead-free glazes. Please take care to avoid thermal shock from rapid heating or cooling. It’s always best to rinse your pottery after use to avoid staining - especially with tea or coffee if left overnight.

As a general rule it is recommended to handwash your ceramics as the dishwasher soaps tend toward a very alkaline base that can damage glaze surfaces. Microwaves can cause metal oxides in glazes to react and or cause flash boiling. Please take care and treat your ceramics in a way you feel most comfortable.
